My Kids

I decided to let the kids ride the Dumbo ride at the entrance to Walmart--very different opinions of the ride.
Jenelle wanted to hold Clayton. He let her do it for a minute. So precious.

Mike's 40th

Mike turned 40 on Friday. We celebrated on Friday night. My parents, Mike's parents, his brother, Matt, and Rhonda--our friend came. Matt along with Mom and Dad Hekman stayed to play Boggle afterwards. It was a quiet celebration, but fun.

This was a hug from Annette, Mike's sister, who couldn't be here, so Matt administered the hug.
Mike and his mom looking at pictures of Mike when he was a little kid--cute pictures. Thanks for bringing them, Mom.

Mike blowing out his candles on his cherry/blueberry pie squares. Mmm...tasty.

Jenelle's smiley face

Here's Jenelle's first smiley face. It matches her face.:)

Fun on the Train

On Monday, we stopped by Sheri, Timothy, and Tiffany's house on our way home from Walmart and the kids got to ride on Thomas the Train. So cool. It really cracked me up that Clayton didn't smile much because he is such the smiler. Maybe he had to concentrate on not falling off.:) Thanks, Sheri, for letting us have fun at your home.

Sunday and So Far this morning

Jenelle was getting dressed and so far just had her T-shirt on--nothing else. She turned around and asked me, "Do you see these sweet little cheeks?" They are pretty precious.:)

Clayton was running in the kitchen, tripped and hit his face (right below his left eye) on the table leg. Pretty hard cry. Bummer. Jenelle said, "What did he trip on?" I said, "Nothing." He gets that from me.:)

I need to post some things prior to this and I will. Just getting back into after me recovering from my dad's surgery. He's doing very well, by the way--resting at home. We got to visit him for a bit after morning church yesterday. He certainly still has his sense of humor. It's good to laugh with him. The kids played outside with my parents' water fountain while I visited with my dad. (While watching the kids outside, my mom was getting some sun on her legs, which she said was the most sun she'd gotten in 25 years!)

Then, the kids and I stopped by Cold Stone on our way home. It was already the kids' nap time, but we were contributing to our friends' fund raiser for their mission trip to Greece/Finland. It hardly felt like much of a sacrifice, but I do what I can. I recommend the Cake Batter ice cream, Twix and caramel. I shared with Jenelle, so that helps me to justify it more.:)

Our Redneck Front Lawn Sprinklers

Mike got home from work a little early and went right to work on the front lawn. He got all the PVC connected and had them running above ground. He was able to use his own sprinklers to water the ground in preparation for digging the trenches on Saturday. Very exciting.

Today so far

Okay, so let's start from last evening.
1) While I was out of the room for a moment, Clay turned my 32 oz cup (almost full of strawberry flavored water) onto its side on the leather recliner. That took a little to clean up. Now we have a couple of clean places on the floor.
2) Last evening, Clay used the bath toys to dip into the toilet and fill up the bottles and soak the bathroom floor and rug.
3) This morning, Jenelle was bouncing the big ball that finally came out of 2 days' worth of time out and knocked the sconce and candle off the wall, knocked down a glass picture frame, the phone and broke the head off one of my Precious Moments figurines. (Amazingly enough, God kept me calm. Thank You, God.)
4) While I was putting clean sheets back on my bed, Clayton had found the salt shaker and emptied most of it on the table, the floor and the chairs.
It's only 9:35 this morning, but it's going to be a good day. Hopefully nothing else will stand out.:)

The rest of the day--
We went to pick up some scrip and while we were out, I thought the kids would enjoy going to the park. They did and even got a little sun. A surprise to me was that some of my mom friends were at the park with their kids, too. Then I took the kids to Baskin Robbins since we had some gift certificates AND I had a two for 1 coupon. It was fun. We parked a ways off and walked there. The kids ate their cones, but most of their ice cream is in the freezer for another time. Jenelle even took a nap today--which I don't take for granted anymore. She has taken naps 3 out of 6 days this week. The nap phase is ending. So sad, but room time will still happen. Now they're playing outside on this beautiful day. Thank You, God, for making this day much better than the starting of it seemed like it would be. 5:37PM

Jenelle's sayings

Yesterday Jenelle said to me, " I suppose I shouldn't pee in my panties." I replied, " I suppose not." Funny. She also said, "Will you pick me up, hug me and kiss me?" I did it. Don't want to take those moments for granted.

Fun things with Clay

Clay is saying and doing more things all the time. It is fun to watch him learn. Recently he has learned that it is fun to jump in his crib. I love watching that.

The Bench

Mike brought home a beat up park bench last Friday. He took out each slat and stained it and he also "rust-oleumed" the wrought iron. It looks like new. We haven't found a permanent home for it yet, but it sure looks nice. I expected it to sit looking old and yucky for awhile, but that was not to be. Mike is quite the talented worker. It's comfy, too.

Jenelle and Clayton

Jenelle can recite two verses now. Clay can say a few words.
